How to Increase Your Self-Worth
Nourishing self-worth and understanding where opportunities to increase your sense of self-value in your life are integral to mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Self-care has become highly popularized in the past decade, but what does that really mean? Why is taking care of ourselves and raising our self-worth important?
It’s your right to reclaim your worthiness for a life full of abundance, purpose, and daily happiness. Cultivating higher levels of self-worth allows you to accept yourself wholeheartedly, live with integrity, and move through challenging situations with grace.
Tangible steps for self-worth:
Below are a few practices that I implemented to overcome my own limitations and own my true worth over the years.
- Reparent your inner child. We hold imprints in our limbic brain from ages 0-7 that determine our everyday attitudes, beliefs, self-talk, and thoughts. In order to begin healing any aspect of self that doesn’t feel good enough, this reparenting process is a foundational step to increasing your worthiness.
- Practice daily self-love and acceptance. We have to show ourselves the same loving kindness that we express to others. Often our “inner critique or inner perfectionist” can send us into a downward spiral of self-loathing. These voices inside will tell us lies about our capabilities and who we are in the world. If we feed into this, we stay victim to our fears. By simply changing our inner dialogue and practicing self-love, we allow our internal state to blossom.
- Embrace patience and grace. We have likely been thinking and acting a certain way for years to decades. This unraveling process can take months to even a few years before a complete transformation. Instead of judging your situation or comparing yourself to another that is further in their journey, we must practice patience and surrender to the timing of our own processes. If you’re “triggered” or envious of someone that seems to be thriving in life, dig underneath that emotion. Truly tune into where this insecurity is stemming from in yourself. The other is simply an external mirror of an internal state. Recognizing the messages for deeper growth on our paths can only happen when we give ourselves compassionate space to reflect.
There are so many other ways in which we can begin increasing our worthiness and deservedness. These are just a few that I have found to be the most impactful for my own journey. Breathwork is a resource that allows me to take each of these practices to the next level of heart-healing. I encourage you to incorporate any of these steps into your daily life and see what lessons you can learn.
