Signs of an Empowered Inner-Child

Learning to empower your inner-child means connecting to the self as an adolescent, specifically through an emotional lens. By connecting to our enthusiasm, curiosity, and creativity, all attributes we experienced naturally as children, we have a unique opportunity for healing.

Why should I care about a wounded inner-child?

It took me years to realize that the root cause of many of my self-sabotaging patterns stemmed from a wounded inner-child. From ages 0-14, we exist in an egocentric state and absorb our environment into our subconscious mind. We operate our day-to-day thoughts, attitudes, reactions, and beliefs from our subconscious state 95% of the time.

Unfortunately, this is why we can feel that we are “stuck” in specific habitual loops. No matter how bad on a conscious level we want to grow past this, it can seem impossible. As adults, we all walk around carrying wounds from our childhood. Whether it’s simple or complex trauma, emotional neglect, or abuse, our subconscious minds are hardwired to retain those incidents as a survival mechanism.

Signs you may need this type of healing work:

  • A strong sense of distrust in everyone, including yourself
  • Feeling highly reactive a majority of the time
  • Valuing independence to the point of isolation and disconnect
  • Symptoms of poor mental and emotional health
  • You often feel “not good enough”
  • You find difficulty maintaining healthy relationships

What can you do about it?

We use conscious, circular Breathwork healing to bypass the conscious mind and access the subconscious or limbic brain. This area of the mind is where we store negative imprinting messages from our childhood. Consuming harmful information is as easy as watching our parents or caretakers at a bad moment.

During my first ever Breathwork journey, Spirit showed me memories from my two years old self. In the remembrance, I felt scared and powerless while my parents were fighting. Shockingly, I had no idea that I was still holding onto these wounds within my subconscious mind. After breathing this way for years now, I have returned to several memories and re-parented that inner-child. Giving them exactly what they needed at that moment to feel safe, supported, and loved.

Some signs of an empowered inner-child include:

  • Making room for fun
  • Embracing radical self-love
  • Strong, healthy boundaries
  • Daily self-care
  • Feeling seen and heard in your relationships and communities
  • Non-judgmental thoughts towards the self and others

In conclusion, I encourage you to explore Breathwork and mindfulness as a method of restoring your link to your inner-child. Nurturing your creativity, committing to self-care practices, and regarding your younger self with love can be revolutionary in your spiritual evolution.
