In my third breathwork healing ceremony, I experienced a massive opening within my Sacral Chakra or Womb Space. Years of suppressed emotional trauma in this sacred space began to release, and on a physical level, there was even some cramping post-breathwork journey.

Why is the womb so important?

The womb or sacral space is the seat of our sexual expression, desire, abundance, emotions, creativity, and flow. When it becomes stagnate, so does our ability to “birth” new ideas and projects into our life. I often feel a massive block in this chakra in many of the women I work with.

They are often stuck in a male-dominated energy of forcing, pushing, controlling, and doing within their lives. This has not only zapped all of the joy from their lives but has left them feeling utterly disconnected from receiving in all aspects of their lives. When we awaken our bodies’ ability to receive pleasure and to be instead of forcing, everything feels more aligned and effortless.

I work with many women to heal their womb space and balance feminine energy. Many of my female clients attest to the same physical “soreness” in this space after a massive release, as I experienced. The reason for this is that wounds can stem deeply within… think of when you have a molar removed. Removing a deeply rooted, infected tooth isn’t the most pleasant experience, but the procedure is essential to let your body heal. When we release energetic blockages and stagnation, the surrender of toxicity is so profound, we can feel it as it clears from our body.

Benefits to healing your Sacral Chakra:

Throughout my time as a healer, I’ve helped women overcome miscarriages, sexual abuse, and male-dominant energy to bring fertility back into the womb space. Some of these clients have even conceived children after these healing sessions, while others conceived new projects and careers.

Womb healing is completed with a combination of intention, breathwork, and energy healing. Guided yoga sessions focusing on hip-openers, connecting with your creative mind, spending time in water, and consuming nourishing foods can also be helpful in restoring an imbalanced Womb Space. If you’ve visited my healing office in Grand Rapids you know it’s filled with crystals. In all my 1:1 healing sessions, I use crystals as tools to clear negative energies that arise and to fill the body with a higher vibration.

What is vibrational energy?

While vibrational energy is currently popular in the wellness world, it’s also based in physics. Einstein established that the universe is energy. Every plant, rock, thought, and molecule vibrates at different frequencies. In humans, high vibrational energy feels light and at ease. On the other hand, experiencing low energy resembles negative emotions such as anxiety, fear, and anger.

Why should you want to raise your vibration?

Higher vibrations increase your energy levels, happiness, and bodily health. Aside from the physical benefits, raising your vibration makes it easier to connect with Spirit and manifest your definition of success.

High-energy crystals protect against low vibrations and help keep your chakras aligned. Gratitude is a daily practice that has the ability to transform your life. Unfortunately, in the hustle and often thoughtless nature of today’s world, practicing gratitude can be an afterthought.

True happiness derives from a perspective shift, focusing on the abundance we do have instead of what we don’t have. I’ve seen significant changes in my own life from starting and ending my day with gratitude.

Why should you practice gratitude?

As more people see and feel the power of acknowledgment, science has more incentive to study its effects. Several recorded benefits of daily gratitude practices include:

  • boosts immune systems
  • improves mental health
  • improves relationships
  • increases optimism

Furthermore, recent data suggests giving consistent appreciation and attention to positivity can change your brain. Our brains are susceptible to our thought processes. We can choose to unshackle our time and energy from toxic emotions such as resentment, envy, or annoyance.

How to hone your gratefulness skills:

Practicing gratitude can directly affect your mood, but the most transformative benefits come from consistent practice. Here are some practical ways to incorporate gratitude into your daily routine:

  1. Keep a Gratitude Journal. Taking a few moments in the morning or at night to recall moments of gratitude allows you to incorporate a theme of gratefulness into your everyday life.
  2. Say thank you more often. Give compliments to random people you interact with — it’s the easiest way to brighten another person’s day. Plus, by creating positive energy for others, you naturally raise your vibration.
  3. Each day think of 3 things you are grateful for and share them with a friend or loved one. You can also keep your items to yourself. These can be as small or large as you want! Concentrating on the things we so easily take for granted, like the Breath or a beautiful day, also cultivates mindfulness.
  4. Challenge yourself to spend one a day a week aware of complaining and criticizing thought processes. Any time a negative thought pops up, commit to coming up with a positive one to follow.

Over time, this perspective shift occurs effortlessly, becoming second nature as your mindset turns to focus on all the good in your life. The further along in your gratitude journey you travel, the more you’ll come to recognize the endless potential for manifestation, as well. Feeling gratitude for all of your high vibration aspirations is an essential aspect of the universal law of attraction and magnetizes it into your life. What do I mean by Shadows?

Like physical shadows, the darker emotions that we mask and bury deep within our minds can obscure the path towards personal growth. These undesirable behaviors or expressions of emotional wounds are Shadows.

Unfortunately, we’ve been taught to avoid pain at all costs. Even talking about our TRUE emotional states is often considered embarrassing or impolite. I had no emotional awareness for years and naturally suppressed all negative emotions or thoughts that I deemed as “not acceptable”.

When left suppressed, these stressful emotions create biochemical responses within the body and eventually begin to change our biology. Without introspection into the unconscious side of our minds, we cannot live a balanced existence.

How do Shadows effect our well-being?

Avoiding shadow work can lead to a cascade of mystery ailments and symptoms such as:

  • Digestive disorders
  • Migraines
  • Body aches + pains
  • Tension in the back or neck
  • Decreased libido/infertility
  • Chronic fatigue/insomnia
  • Anxiety/OCD
  • Depression
  • Weight gain
  • Hair loss
  • Compromised immune system
  • Auto-Immune conditions

That list could go on and on, with numerous indicators stemming from accumulated stress and emotional trauma.

How do we help heal our Shadows?

Breathwork was the first modality of healing that allowed me to finally face and fully feel all these darker emotions. Ultimately, by using the breath’s power, I was able to heal my physical body from several ailments.

Since many of us have never accessed our emotional bodies in this way, breathwork can be a raw, vulnerable, and emotionally intense experience. It’s not a glamorous process. Shadow healing takes courage and commitment. It requires an integrative approach to physical, mental and emotional healing. However, the level of self-discovery and inner-transformation on the other side is always worth it.

Freeing ourselves of the heavy weights that we’ve been carrying for years and becoming comfortable with our shadows isn’t a fantasy or impossible. It’s a beautiful journey of awakening that I’m humbled to guide breathers through each and everyday.

It’s an age-old question. One that’s been pondered and debated for hundreds of years. In the modern world, with access to the findings of brilliant researchers, psychologists, and philosophers, we now have some more concrete proof of what can actually promote happiness.

As many of us have learned, it’s often not money, a new car, a big home, or material things that truly bring us happiness (though often we will trick ourselves that we “need” these things to feel fulfilled). Time and again, not long after we get that next “thing” that’s supposed to make us happy, we’re already looking for something else to fill that space inside. Several studies show that while there are many conceptualizations of happiness, there are a few main contributors to peace and fulfillment.

What can we do to cultivate happiness?

True happiness stems from meaningful contribution.

 

We can make meaningful contributions by using our natural gifts, talents, and skills to improve others’ lives in some way. Each of us has unique abilities and instincts. Finding a way to utilize our fortes to benefit someone else helps us act from our heart rather than our ego.

 

Moreover, we define our reality (level of happiness) from what we BELIEVE. Our thoughts, attitude, and beliefs all stem from the subconscious mind, where we project 95% of our lives from. To begin releasing negative beliefs, we can use conscious breathwork to access the subconscious and allow that heaviness to cascade out.

 

Above all, happiness is a CHOICE that is possible for most of us. Numerous studies have indicated that people who are happier have specific daily habits. These routines can include exercise, meditation, maintaining healthy relationships, pursuing goals, and practicing gratitude. With a clear understanding of ourselves, we are better able to sustain the commitment to experience our full potential.

 

Combining the above daily habits with meaningful contributions is a recipe for fulfillment and true joy each and every day. Yes, there will be ups and downs. Unexpected obstacles along our path along with hardships are inevitable in life. But, we can chose to be intentional about the outlook we want to have each day. This perspective gives us the power to co-create our realities. We all deserve to experience fulfilling happiness and joy. I know it can be easy to find yourself lost, unhappy, and full of negative energy. Thankfully, there will always be a path of hope and peace waiting for you.

Emerging from the stillness of the winter months can be a wonderful opportunity to return to the breath.

Here in the northern hemisphere, where I live, this is always a welcomed time of year. The snow has melted and the buds are beginning to bloom again. Like all cycles of life, we find connection to this season of blossoming. We are spiritual beings in physical bodies. This makes us inextricably linked to mother earth and the universe’s natural expansion. Making this Spring Equinox the perfect time to breathe into new life.

How to use the Breath as a source of revitalization

For myself and many of my clients it also symbolizes the end of SAD season (seasonal affective disorder) which is a very real imbalance causing depression, anxiety, fatigue, appetite changes, loneliness and more. Furthermore, it was especially difficult this year as we were even more isolated under this pandemic. While this time isn’t always easy to weather through, our bodies have built-in mechanisms to help ease the stress of SAD. Gentle exercise, restorative yoga, and using the power of your breath are just several tools to lift the dark cloud hovering over your mind.

Natural universal shifts and Conscious Breathwork pair together quite easily. Breathwork has the natural ability to release heavy weights from the mental, emotional and physical body. It is crucial to implement grounding techniques in your daily and weekly routine. Wherever you are in your healing and wellness journey, it is imperative to ground regularly for a balanced life. Here are my top recommended practices for grounding and why they are so important.

Why Should We Ground?

Oftentimes our thoughts, anxieties and worries can tailspin out, leaving us feeling scattered, insecure and disconnected from our worn bodies.

This sense of disconnection ripples into our lives and we can become disconnected from our intuition and sense of safety within ourselves.

This is why grounding our energy in a consistent basis is so important. When you are grounded, it allows you to be present and easily organize your thoughts.

Along with growing in a way that is in alignment with your vision, grounding creates reconnection, balance and strengthening within our mind, body and spirit.

This leaves us feeling unshakable no matter the obstacle that comes your way.

How Can You Ground?

Here are my top recommendations for easy but impactful grounding practices.

  1. Morning Meditation for 10-15min, feet securely rooted to the ground. If you need a supported grounding meditation, listen to my grounding breathwork meditation HERE
  2. Breathing in through my nose to activate the parasympathetic state of rest + restore.
  3. Diffusing Earth & Wood Synergy Blend by Edens Garden with grounding cedarwood.
  4. Epsom salt baths for an increase of relaxing magnesium for your physical body.
  5. Breathing in through the nose, gently and softly.
  6. Eat or drink root veggies, which energetically ground you back in. Think carrots, sweet potatoes, beets, turnips and ginger.
  7. Use CBD Oil.  I use and sell a locally grown, full spectrum, organic CBD oil that has a strong grounding presence for our nervous system.
  8. I also love walks in nature, journaling, yoga and a digital detoxes.

Hello, 2021! We’ve arrived at a new year, bringing fresh perspectives and a blank page to turn your intentions into manifestations. 2021 is here, and you have the power to call in the life you desire. Because of this, I invite you to take steps towards bringing your manifestations to reality through the power of intention.

I have used the below formula in the power of intention to co-create my life and heal my body for years. It’s about understanding the energetics behind the intention and effortlessly flowing into alignment with it over and over again.

The 5 Steps of Intention Setting 

1) Gain clarity on your intentions by centering yourself in the stillness where inspiration lies. Nature, Meditation, Breathwork are my go-to’s for deeper guidance.

2) Then, choose 1-3 intentions for the next month, be open to changing this list as you evolve. And, if you need intention prompts, see if THESE resonate with you.

3) Remain in the vibration of authenticity and do not be swayed by naysayers.

4) Review your list on a daily basis and FEEL into how these intentions will make you feel. Allow it to awaken your joy, gratitude, and abundance as if you were living it now.

5) Lastly, release your attachment to the outcome and be grounded in uncertainty.
