CBD oil in coffee? Oh yes. Ready to take your cup of joe to the next level? I have been obsessed with CBD coffee as my new morning elixir and enjoying its many benefits that keep me fueled and focused.
Some health gurus turn their nose up to coffee but this tonic that has been consumed for thousands of years has a lengthy list of benefits for the brain and body when consumed responsibly.
Warm beverages in the morning, even in the summer are a fantastic way to awaken your senses and ease into the business of the day.
Plus, I admittedly love the immediate pep it adds to my step!
Skip the cream and Sugar
The coffee bean is packed full of antioxidants and phytonutrients that are protective to your cellular health and act to clean up free radicals in the body. When you dump commercial creams into the mix this is what sends your hormones into a tail spin.
Packed full of inflammatory dairy and refined sugar, creamers not only add unnecessary calories to your coffee they also lead to blood sugar spikes which can lead to sugar cravings later in the day.
Instead of regular creamer opt for unsweetened almond or coconut milk. These plant milks add creaminess and give you a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals. If you like extra sweetness try manuka or wild flower honey which is a powerful anti-bacterial.
For added flavor try cinnamon which adds sweetness and aids in balancing blood sugar.
Because coffee is one of the most heavily sprayed crops, I always pick out an organic brand OR look for a company that has a relationship with their farmers and favor small batch as they tend to treat their beans more naturally.
GMOs and pesticides that are sprayed onto crops can interrupt your body’s natural detox mechanisms and add to excess accumulation of toxins that can leave you feeling foggy and sick.
By supporting small farmers and organic brands, you are voting for change in our current structure which will slowly persuade other growers to treat their beans more organically too.
CBD Oil and its many Benefits
CBD is a non-pyscho active component of the hemp plant. It is 100% legal and is quickly gaining popularity for its potent medicinal benefits.
Researchers have discovered that it can suppress cancer cells, treat epilepsy, induce sleep for those with insomnia and acts as a natural neuro-trophic which enhances the brain’s chemistry.
We are only just beginning to understand how this plant which contains over 48 different cannabinoids interacts with our own endo-cannabinoid system but like a apoptogenic herb it will adjust according to your own body’s needs.
You can purchase CBD oil and use it topically for inflammation or dry skin but ingesting it is when you will receive the most benefits.
Superfood morning Elixir
When I found CBD infused coffee by Strava Coffee, I totally geeked out. This small business is based out of Denver, Colorado and is setting the new standard for some seriously awesome super food coffee.
They have a selection of regular beans along with an array of CBD varieties which perfectly coordinate with whatever type of day you have planned.
The Escape blend is a decaf brew that is ideal after a busy day when you want to relax, wind down and prepare for an insanely awesome night of sleep. I seriously sleep like a rock and wake up feeling refreshed with this blend.
When I have a super busy day planned, I’ve been opting for the Peace and Focus variety. Instead of getting the jitters, this coffee leaves me feeling grounded and alert.
